Macroalgae Reactor Cap-Hose Barb Version
PhytoTank Macroalgae Reactor
Naturally Reduce Nitrates & Phosphates in Your Reef
The PhytoTank Macroalgae Reactor is a simple, effective way to control nutrients in your reef tank by growing chaeto macroalgae in a clean, contained system.
Using natural biological filtration, this reactor helps reduce nitrate and phosphate levels—supporting a healthier, more stable reef.
Why Use a Macroalgae Reactor?
- Natural nutrient export – Removes nitrate and phosphate as chaeto grows
- Improved water quality – Supports long-term reef stability
- Compact, contained design – No loose algae in your sump
- Easy harvest and maintenance
How It Works
Install a small pump in your sump (recommended ≤ 250 GPH) to circulate water through the reactor and back into your system. As chaeto grows inside the PhytoTank, it consumes excess nutrients.
When the reactor fills with macroalgae, remove approximately 75% of the chaeto to export the absorbed nitrate and phosphate.
